If you want to change your Gmail account password, you should know it is not difficult at all. Another fact to know is that your Google Account password is the same password you use for other Google programs, like Gmail and YouTube etc. If you have forgotten your password, would like to reset it or would like to change your password for security reasons. Follow these few steps and you will be good to go.
How to change your Gmail password
- Log in:
Firstly, log into your Google account. This you do by entering your username and password.
- Gear click:
Next, click on the button on the top right corner of your page. This is also called the “settings” button.
The next step is to click on the “settings” button which is the fourth category in the drop down menu.
- Accounts and imports:
The “account and imports” is the forth item in the top row of the table which is in the settings tool bar. Select this option.
- Change password:
Next, choose the first option at the top of the page as this will open a new window under the name “My account”.
- Type in:
Here you will type in your current and new passwords. Then re-enter your new password in the next slot in order to confirm it. As you type in your new password, it will show you the strength of the password that you will type in. Make sure that you choose the one with a stronger strength as this will help you protect your account strongly. Use numbers and other values like “@”,” #” and “$” etc.
- Change password:
The last step in the process which is left is to click on the change password and voila – your work is done!
Note: If you’re running an Android system of 5.1 or higher on your device & need to do a factory reset, you need to wait at least 72 hours after changing your password to reset your device. This is for security purposes and you cannot use your account within the 72 hours after you reset your password.
