  1. Connect the SD Card through a SD Card adapter
  2. Back up the data on your SD Card
  3. Open My Computer by clicking the icon on the desktop
  4. You will now see a list of drives, wait for the SD Card to show up
  5. Right click the SD Card and click Format
  6. Here you can choose formatting options, FAT32/exFAT according to card size

  7. Press OK, and the formatting should be done in a couple of seconds, showing a prompt
  8. Click OK on the Format Complete prompt
  9. Your SD card is now formatted

Android is one of the most popular mobile OS today, and Google owns it. It is well known for its broad scope of customization and usability. Using the Android OS, you can format your SD card to free up space and add more content. To format your SD Card on Android, follow the following steps:

  1. Open your Apps Drawer and navigate to the Settings app
  2. Open the Settings app and go to the Storage menu option
  3. After opening the Storage menu, you will see information regarding memory on your phone
  4. Scroll down to the end of the page, and you will find information about your SD Card there
  5. Press the Erase SD Card or Format SD Card button and confirm the prompt
  6. Now you have a formatted SD Card with free space for your content

  1. First, connect the SD Card to your computer by using an SD Card adaptor
  2. Make sure to backup any files you need, as formatting your card will delete all the data
  3. Open Disk Utility, which can be accessed by typing “Disk Utility” in the top-right corner of your computer
  4. Disk Utility will show you a list of storage devices connected to your computer, and you should look for the name of your SD card on the list
  5. Find the SD Card on the list of Disk Utility and click Erase
  6. This will bring up a prompt which will allow you to choose the format in which you wish to format your card, FAT32 or exFAT. If your card is 32GB or smaller choose FAT32, and if it’s bigger than 32GB choose exFAT,
  7. A prompt will come up asking you whether you are sure you want to format the card, click Erase
  8. Now your memory card is formatted, and you are free to add all the data you want inside of it
